Seedorf staying at San Siro

AC Milan's Dutch international midfield player Clarence Seedorf has renewed his contract until 2009.

Plenty of success
The only player to have lifted the European Champion Clubs' Cup with three different clubs - AFC Ajax, Real Madrid CF and Milan - the 28-year-old joined the Rossoneri in 2002 from city rivals FC Internazionale. He helped them win the UEFA Champions League and Coppa Italia in 2002/03, before following up with the Scudetto last season.

Fresh start
Seedorf will now be able to concentrate on aiding Milan in their defence of the domestic title, starting with a home match against AS Livorno Calcio on 11 September, and in their forthcoming Champions League campaign. They begin in the group stage of that competition, alongside FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Celtic FC and FC Barcelona, and open with a trip to Shakhtar on 14 September.

International class
The Surinam-born Seedorf made his debut for the Netherlands as an 18-year-old against Luxembourg in 1994. He subsequently took part in the 1996 UEFA European Championship, the 1998 FIFA World Cup, UEFA EURO 2000™ and UEFA EURO 2004™.
