At the age of 19, Vicky López already has an enviable list of accolades and achievements to her name through successes with Barcelona and Spain.
"I don't like to focus too much on what I've achieved, I just want more," the midfielder tells Women's Champions League fanzine Queenzine, as she prepares to face OL Lyonnes in the Women's Champions League final in Oslo on Saturday 23 May.
Since signing for Barcelona on her 16th birthday in July 2022, Vicky has set a series of new benchmarks as a teenager.
Aged 16, she became Barcelona's youngest-ever Women's Champions League player and Spain's youngest debutant when she appeared in the UEFA Women's Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands.
Last summer, she made more history as the youngest player to score for Spain at a Women's EURO, aged 18 years and 342 days; making five tournament appearances as her team finished runners-up to England – including as a substitute in the final.
In November, she scored in the UEFA Women's Nations League final as Spain retained their title. Vicky's performances for club and country during 2025 led to her winning the inaugural Women's Kopa Trophy for best player aged under 21 at last year's Ballon d'Or awards.
Now, she is aiming to lift her third Women's Champions League title, having been part of the Barcelona squads that triumphed in 2023 and 2024.
She spoke to Queenzine about how family, music and self-belief have all helped her achieve success at a young age in football.
On how her older brother inspired her to start playing football
"I started playing when I was five or six because of my brother as I always copied what he did. I played at any opportunity and I just really enjoyed it. My family and my friends always believed in me; they knew I could go far."
On joining Barcelona from Madrid CFF aged 16
"When I signed for Barcelona, that's when it became serious. I knew that coming to Barça meant starting again. I knew it would be hard, but I wanted that. I had two years of adaptation where I would have liked to play more, but it helped me grow.
"At the end of the day, I know the player I am and what I can give. I always had a dream and I wasn't going to stop until I reached the level I wanted to be at."
On her passion for Afrobeats and Caribbean music
"Listening to music before games helps me get into the right mood. I like to dance to it and it motivates me."
On how she describes her playing style
"Explosive. I like to dance on the pitch. I play to enjoy myself, and for others to enjoy watching. I want to help my team-mates. My ambition is to help the team and win titles."
On playing in the Women's Champions League and her ambitions
"It has always been one of my favourite competitions. Everything is faster and you have to improve all the time. I want people to see me as a happy person, someone who works hard and cares about her family.
"One of my dreams is that when I retire, I will be a role model, not only for the player I was on the pitch but for the person I was off it. I just want to keep improving."
